On January 29th, 2022, a snowstorm came to the Lower East Side of New York City. I realized this could be an opportunity to go outside and take pictures. Monochromatic 35mm film photos fit well with the mostly-white weather. I used Ilford Delta 100 film stocks (and one of them got expired) and pushed up to 400 ISO during the development. This process gives the pictures more contrast. Then, I thought of this story: the city under a winter apocalypse. And people trying to survive in this environment.
It was the day of January 29th. Many people thought this was their average winter day in one of the largest cities in the world. Then the unexpected snowstorm came. But this isn’t your regular storm. But the storm covered the city in a white blanket and put the time to sleep. Now people in New York City find a new order through this white urban emptiness.
